COPESing With Research

Today in class, we discussed COPES questions. These questions are used by clinicians who are involved in research. Since this lecture was somewhat central to this entire class, I thought it might be helpful to have some additional information. Below is a link relating to COPES questions. It provides a grid that may assist you when trying to develop your own COPES questions.

Explore the exciting world of COPES questions.

NASW Code of Ethics

Our profession is governed by a Code of Ethics. The National Association of Social Workers provides us a set of rules, a code of ethics, that guides our professional practice. Please review the code of ethcis and create posts that explain how you think these guidelines apply to social work research.

Welcome to Research Methods for Social Work Practice! Try and contain your excitement :)
In all seriousness, research and social work practice are not as far apart as you might think. In fact, most of you have engaged in research . . . you just may not have understood that was what you were doing. During this class, we will assist you in applying the appropriate research terms for the everyday activities in which you most likely already engage. To start this discussion, I am posting a link to the NASW website. This page will outline the use of Evidence Based Practice in Social Work. Check out the link and comment about the use of evidence based practice in the world of social work.
